Transgrid is committed to protecting the health, welfare and safety of employees, contractors and the public through demonstrated leadership in health and safety. Our strategies are aimed at continually improving our performance in this area. Representing our firm position that all accidents are preventable, our focus on risk management is key to achieving our goal of zero injuries.
As an essential service provider operating in a high risk environment, meeting a strong standard of health and safety is core to everything we do. We promote a positive safety culture in which all employees and contractors are encouraged to actively manage their safety and the safety of others.
To underscore and strengthen these commitments, contractors working for Transgrid must register and maintain their compliance in our online system.
The system is managed on our behalf by Avetta.
HOW DOES THE SYSTEM WORK?
Contractors will register both their business and workers in the Avetta system.
All contractors who work directly for Transgrid (i.e. your company invoices Transgrid) must register both their company and workers.
When a contractor, who is not appointed as the Principal Contractor, hires a sub-contractor, they must ensure that the sub-contractor fulfills all registration requirements for both their company and their workers.
How to Invite a Subcontractor

The process is relatively simple and is all completed in an online portal. We divide it into two stages to make it as seamless as possible: 1. business registration, and 2. worker registration.

Registering your business
Beginning in the Company Pre-Qualification portal of the Transgrid Avetta system, you’ll answer questions about the type, scope and frequency of work your business does. Based on your answers, you’ll be assigned a category to determine which documents we’ll need to get you compliant. You’ll upload those documents for safety specialists to verify, and then you can get your workers registered.
Registering your workers
You’ll create profiles for your employees who work on Transgrid sites. You’ll select the role/s they perform for Transgrid, upload their qualifications and competencies (licences, tickets), and book online inductions which they complete before attending site. This information is also verified by safety specialists. Compliant and inducted workers are issued with contractor cards linked to their online profile.
